Home on the Range

Another amazing night of sleep after a long drive.  I woke up early, but decided to go back to sleep, because why not.  At some point, my sweet boy came in and covered me up with “the softest blanket ever” that I bought for the RV last summer.  He crawled up on the bed and climbed over me a bit, pulling the blanket to make sure I was totally covered.  When John finally woke me up sometime later for breakfast, I made a comment about this sweet gesture.  John smirked and said, “Yeah, he covered you with that blanket and then said you looked like an Iron Golem!”

Levi adamantly defends his actions by saying, “Because that’s what you looked like, Mom.  You looked just like an Iron Golem!”

In case you don’t hear about Minecraft all day, every day, as we do, Trista made an Iron Golem in her world and name it affectionately!

It sure is nice to wake up and head over to the house for a delicious, hot breakfast and then take a nice, warm shower after two long days of traveling… I am so spoiled!

After breakfast, Trista was able to head out and ride Jack.  She loves this mule and he loves her.  Pawpaw gave her a checkride and after successful completion, she was told she could now ride Jack around the front patch all by herself!  This is a great day!

After lunch, we made the decision to head back to Lander (because we hadn’t had enough time on the road, LOL) to fulfill a promise I had made that this year we would do fireworks.  We drove the 66 miles back to town and went into a huge fireworks store, only to discover that I know nothing about fireworks.  I had to ask the ladies, “Listen, my kids have never done fireworks, not even sparklers.  I am not looking to blow anything up or spook the mules, can you please point us toward some kid friendly stuff?”  With our bag of loot we headed back home.

Back at the ranch, I was organizing our “home”.  Sometime ago, we bought these little tents for stuffed animals in the dollar section at Target, but we just gave them to the kids this year.  Trista uses hers as a tent and puts her little dog in it and sets it by our campfire pillow.  Levi has determined that his is a space capsule and he shoves his fat duck lovie into it and launches him off the bunk!

Duckie is in the red ‘space capsule’.
