We are the Carkeet family. Established by John and Tonya in 2003 and expanded in 2010 with our daughter Trista and again in 2014 with our son Levi. We also have an agoraphobic Cattle (lap)dog named Annie, but she ain’t comin’ because we have some amazing friends! (Shout-out to the Rodrigues) John has been blessed to work for a company that offers a 6-week sabbatical after 7 years of service. (‘Sabbatical’ (like ‘Bonus’) is one of the mythical creatures in the Corporate America forest. I know those of us who work in aviation are totally unfamiliar with these terms!) Being wanderers at heart, we knew this was a once in a lifetime opportunity and one we could not pass up. The kids are young enough that pulling them out of school for 6 weeks is unlikely to have long term consequences (sorry, teachers, we promise to study on the road!) and old enough that we hope they remember this journey for the rest of their lives. We bought an RV, affectionately referred to as Romeo Victor, and we are setting out to see what we can see down the eastern part of the United States! We are excited to have you follow along on our 6.2 mpg adventure!
