Adventuring

Driving day 2

Our plan was to get an early start, but as I have stated before… John went into Walmart, then into Walmart again, I fixed a quick breakfast and some coffee.  There are two restaurants that we like to hit for lunch on the way to my in-laws.  I asked John if he wanted me to fix a sandwich for lunch before we started out and he said he wanted to hit one of those restaurants.  One is outside of Laramie and the other is in Rawlins and I told him we would be LONG PAST both places at lunch time… Due to some strategic lollygagging and some seriously brutal winds (signs today said, ‘Wind gusts 55+), we pulled right into Rawlins just in time for some Thai lunch from Anong’s.  DELICIOUS!

We seemed to battle vicious winds from the driver side no matter which direction we traveled!  Somewhere along the way I watched our vent cover blow off the top of our rig and tumble across a field.  Additionally, we always see pronghorn, but they are usually well off the road.  Today, for some reason, we saw lots of pronghorn RIGHT along the side of the road and stopped once for pronghorn crossing!

When I said that we didn’t have anywhere to be at any given time, I sort of lied, there was a trail ride scheduled for Wednesday at 630 and Trista was beyond anxious to be mounted on her favorite mule for that ride.  As it turned out, we did our very, very best and we pulled into my in-law’s house at 605 pm only to discover the trail ride had been canceled due to impending weather.  Big bummer for Trista, but at least it wasn’t because we hadn’t made it and the good news is that when the ride is canceled they still meet for dessert and apparently whipped cream on berries is an acceptable substitute for mule riding!
