Adventuring

Life

My plan is to keep on blogging our adventure, even when we aren’t actively adventuring. My plan is to add some updates when there is something interesting or funny to update. The past few days have been pretty chill.

There have been lots of rounds of dominoes and gin played.

Sunday afternoon, PawPaw saddled up Jack and let the kids ride. Trista was riding by herself and Jack stepped into the bottom of the tipped over windmill and Trista couldn’t get him to back up. She wasn’t stuck for too long, but when I found her she was just sitting on Jack, stuck and crying. We wanted a picture, but she was too upset for that and we were able to get her un-stuck and she went to compose herself.

After she left, Levi wanted a turn. He went and PawPaw led him around a bit and then enclosed him into a smaller area where he could ride by himself. When he got on, he didn’t have his hat, but then he asked us to get it. When he put it on he said, “Now I’m a cowboy!”

and we were like, “What were you before?”

“Just a rider. Now I’m a cowboy!”

Levi was riding Jack using voice commands like, “Stop, Jack” and “Go this way, Jack!” and at one point I got an honest to goodness, “Look, Ma, no hands!”

Apparently we have some work to do. Needless to say, he was not allowed to ride Jack without close supervision!

For dinner this evening, the pastor and his family were invited over for dinner. Their kids + our kids made for quite a wild time.

Paw Paw entertained the kids with his dinner bell and learned a thing or two about an old school video game. He is always so great with the kids!

It struck me in Cody that we saw folks lined up to watch some guy tinkering around a chuck wagon outside of the Buffalo Bill museum. How blessed we are that this is just normal life at grandma and grandpa’s house! (and I’ll never get sick of those views!)

Somewhere along the way, Grandma found the paper cap and diploma that John had when he graduated from Kindergarten. Levi was cheated out of his Pre-K graduation (twice actually – last year we didn’t let him go because he was to repeat Pre-K and this year Covid canceled it) so we let him wear the hat and carry the diploma!

We headed back to CO this week to take care of some things. I bought the M&Ms at the top of this post at a gas station for John! Trista is elated to be back with her summertime gang and they have all picked right back up where they left off. We are enjoying our comfortable living room furniture, our shower and our soft bed, but not quite ready to stop adventuring and come home for good! Stay tuned…
